Without understanding, cooperation and synergy with youth, it is difficult to promote equality and fight against discrimination, which is why the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality organized the “Unconference – Youth for Equality” in the framework of the Youth Panel. In an equal conversation, representatives of primary and secondary schools and students pointed out the problems they face and how they perceive the way to solve them.
“The main role of our young advisers is to help us to best realize what their needs are, and we will help them to master the mechanisms of how to be promoters of equality in the most effective way, and educators to their peers, in order to encourage them to take an active role in improving equality. Only together can we change things!” said the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, and announced that numerous activities in 2023 will be dedicated to youth.
For years now, the Commissioner has been gathering a group of children and youth from Serbia who, as the Youth Panel, participate in specially designed educational programs, workshops and activities of the Commissioner in areas related to children and youth. Within this Unconference, they pointed out how the Youth Panel should look in the future, so that it best reflects the needs of their peers and influences the further spread of ideas of tolerance and equality, creating a society without stereotypes and prejudices.
