THE COMMISSIONER RECOMMENDED THE REPRESENTATIVES FOR A BALANCED NUMBER OF WOMEN IN THE FUTURE GOVERNMENT

On the occasion of the upcoming formation of the new Government, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Janković sent a recommendation for measures to improve equality to the representative for the composition of the Government Ana Brnabić , which refers to the balanced representation of women and men in the future government.

In her recommendation, Commissioner Janković states that Serbia has taken significant steps in recent years to increase the participation of women in political and public life, understanding that the balanced participation of men and women in decision-making is one of the priorities for the overall development of society. She pointed out the importance of ensuring a fairer distribution of influence, using the potential of everyone in creating public policies and looking at solutions from different perspectives.

The Commissioner pointed out that the previous Government, thanks to the recommendations of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and the improved new normative framework, as well as the initiative of the President of the Republic of Serbia during the formation of the Government, was at 10th place in Europe in terms of the representation of women and at the same time represented the highest level of participation of women compared to all previous Governments of the Republic of Serbia, and that it would be of great importance to continue such trend.
