On the occasion of the International Day of Rare Diseases, February 28, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, received a recognition award for her special contribution to rare diseases, from the National Organization for Rare Diseases of Serbia (NORBS).
The award ceremony was held at the Japanese Embassy. The ceremony was opened by the Ambassador of Japan to Serbia, H.E. Takahiko Katsumata, and the wife of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Tamara Vučić, while representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministries of Science and Health, the Institute for Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering, the Institute for Artificial Intelligence, RFZO and NORBS took part in the discussions.
In addition to Commissioner Janković, Tamara Vučić, Dr. Jelena Begović, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, professor Dr. Sanja Radojević Škodrić, director of the Republic Fund for Health Insurance, and the Ministry of Health also received a recognition award. In addition, awards for years-long contributions to rare diseases were presented to Dr. Maja Stojiljković and Dr. Sonja Pavlović from the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering, professor Dr. Ivana Novaković, professor Dr. Goran Čuturilo, and Dr. Dušan Milisavljević, while H.E. Takahiko Katsumati, Ambassador of Japan to Serbia, received a certificate of appreciation.
