Commissioner receives Certificate of Recognition for Contribution to the Promotion of the Right to Free Access to Information of Public Importance and Transparency of Work

The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality is the winner of this year’s Certificate of Recognition for Contribution to Promoting the Right to Free Access to Information of Public Importance and Transparency of Work Awarded by the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection on the occasion of the International Right to Know Day.

It is a great honor that this recognition comes from colleagues from another independent institution who placed the exercise of the right to free access to information of public importance to an extremely high level, said Commissioner Brankica Janković, adding that, despite great challenges ahead , unfortunately, some public authorities do not adequately respect the right of citizens to a free access to information of public importance.

The Commissioner also said that it is the duty of all public authorities to be open, transparent and accessible to those for whom they exist, namely the citizens and that this will continue to be the guiding principle of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality.

Commissioner Rodoljub Šabić, explaining the decision of the jury, highlighted the quality of the Information Booklet on the work of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, the information on the website and manner of communication. He added that this institution responded to all requests and that no complaint against the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality had been filed with the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance.
