Commissioner Brankica Janković was the hostess of the 36th Gathering of Flutists of Serbia “Hey Morava” held in Prislonica, near Čačak. The central event of the Gathering is the competition, where musicians from all over Serbia have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in playing the flute. This year, Aleksa Miletić was declared the winner in the contemporary music playing category, while Jelisaveta and Svetozar Šutić were awarded for the duet.
“The new generation of flutists, in terms of number and quality that we see from year to year, is encouraging, because they affirm flute art and craft. But it is not only art and folk creativity, but also the values of tolerance, understanding and mutual respect that are the heritage of this event at the foot of the Vujan mountain”, the Commissioner pointed out.
In addition to exhibitions, performances by cultural and artistic societies, a poetry evening and a competition of young flutists, this year’s Gathering of Flutists was also marked by the Ethno Yard, an event supported by the project “Improving the position of women and girls from rural areas”, which the Commissioner is implementing together with UN Women and the Norwegian Embassy. Visitors to Prislonica had the opportunity to learn about the work of the “Evgenija” association from Ježevica, and as part of the Golden Hands program, old dishes were prepared in the Etno Yard.
