The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, and the Minister without Portfolio in charge of gender equality, prevention of violence against women, and economic and political empowerment of women, Tatjana Macura, held a working meeting to discuss the cooperation of the two institutions in promoting equality.
At the meeting activities that can contribute, above all, to the suppression of violence against women were discussed, as well as other important challenges that we as a society face regarding the positions of women and men in society. In this context, the importance of mutual interconnection and joint action of independent institutions, executive authorities, and the civil sector in achieving greater gender equality has been pointed out.
The Commissioner reminded of the most important activities that the institution of the Commissioner undertakes to protect against any form of discrimination and improve the quality of life of all citizens in Serbia, without exception. Among other things, the meeting discussed the implementation of existing regulations, as well as joint projects and initiatives that will contribute to the prevention of gender-based violence and women’s economic and political empowerment.
