Winners of the Annual Media Award, which the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality has been awarding for seven years with the support of the OSCE Mission in Serbia, as last year’s first prize winners, attended the International Journalism festival in the Italian city of Perugia. This gave them a special opportunity to attend, within the festival, which was held for the 17th time, numerous panels dealing with important journalistic and media topics, such as new technologies, human and media rights, disinformation, fake news, climate change, artificial intelligence, the use of social networks, business models and many other relevant topics. The festival attracted numerous journalists, journalism students, scientists, and media workers who had free access to presentations, workshops, panels, and discussions.
This year, in June, the Commissioner will announce the competition for the Annual Media Award, and as in the previous years, the goal of the competition is media promotion of values, such as equality, and tolerance, as well as suppression of prejudices and stereotypes towards minorities, marginalized and vulnerable groups.
The right to participate will be given to journalists of all printed and electronic, local, and national media registered in Serbia who have published texts/reports that align with the objective of the competition, in the period from September 15, 2022, to September 15, 2023.
