Brankica Janković, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality strongly condemned anonymous death threats made to journalists Nedim Sejdinović and Dinko Gruhonjić and their families. These threats represent serious form of discrimination and go towards instigating racial, ethnic and religious intolerance, said the Commissioner stressing that she expects that the competent authorities would address the issue as a matter of urgency.
Commissioner Janković warned the public of other threats and statements containing elements of hate speech which were made to journalists via social media in the previous period.
Threats and hate speech are unimaginable in a country striving to build a tolerant and democratic society, which means that perpetrators need to be sanctioned, concluded the Commissioner.
