The institution of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality was visited by Stina Sandgren, Administrator in the Human Rights Unit of the Directorate-General for External Policies of the Union (DG EXPO) at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Assistant Commissioner Jelena Kotević, together with her colleagues, spoke with Stina Sandgren about the competencies of the institution of the Commissioner and the handling of complaints submitted by citizens, as well as about the key activities undertaken to protect social groups that are at increased risk of discrimination, with an emphasis on the position of LGBTI persons in Serbia.

The meeting highlighted the importance of continuously monitoring the situation on the ground, responding promptly to cases of discrimination, and further improving cooperation with international partners in the protection of human rights.
