Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic spoke at the opening of exhibition of LGBT persons photo portraits and stories titled „Invisible Stories“ by author Iva Vejinovic, held within the Pride Week in French Institute in Serbia.
Commissioner stated that cultural and art activities, especially like this one, which requires personal courage from its acters, significantly contribute to the improvement of LGBT persons position. She stressed that equality does not mean that we should all be the same, but that we are making our country a better place with accepting of differences among us.
Ambassador of France Frederic Mondoloni opened the exibition and said that LGBT persons don’t make homogene identity, they are our neighbours, colleagues, friends and above all – individuals with their own stories.
Exhibition author Iva Vejnovic explained her idea to present a story behind the faces at photographies and said that „we all wish to be understood, regardless of differences, and to be looked in our eyes, as people look at each other“. One of photography actors, Stefan Sparavalo from association Da se zna, also spoke at the opening of this exibition. Photo portraits can also be seen on Instagram profile invisibles_story.
