During its five day visit to Serbia, the Palestinian delegation consisting of state officials, civil society and media representatives has had an opportunity to become acquainted with the work and functioning of independent institutions in Serbia, namely the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Republic of Serbia Ombudsman and the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.
Brankica Janković, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality gave a presentation on the scope of authority, the activities and future plans of the institution. She also explained the complaints procedrue before the Commissioner and offered most notable cases of discrimination in the security sectora.
In addition, both Saša Janković, Republic of Serbia Ombudsman and Rodoljub Šabić, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection spoke on the operation of independent institutions in the Republic of Serbia.
The Palestinian delegation will meet and talk with the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, civil society and media representatives on mechanisms for filing compalints in the Republic of Serbia security sector. This visit was jointly organized by the Republic of Serbia Ombudsman Office and Geneva Center for Democratic Control of Armed Forces.
