Notice to the public about the complaint of the National Council of the Bosniak National Minority against the AM Sjenica

In the procedure that was carried out following several complaints of the National Council of the Bosniak National Minority in the Republic of Serbia against the Assembly of the Municipality of Sjenica, due to discrimination on the basis of nationality, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality issued the opinion that there had been a violation of the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination.

The Assembly of the Municipality of Sjenica was recommended to eliminate the consequences of discriminatory behavior in such a way that, when appointing members of the school boards in the elementary school “12. decembar”, elementary school “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” and in the secondary school “Jezdimir Lović”, it takes into account the proposals of the National Council of the Bosniak National Minority for appointing members of school boards in these schools, as well as to take care to comply with regulations on the prohibition of discrimination in the future.

The Assembly of the Municipality of Sjenica did not act on the given recommendations, and the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, in accordance with the Law, is informing the public about this.
