Acting within the legally prescribed competencies[1] to monitor the implementation of laws related to the prohibition of discrimination and to recommend to public authorities and other entities measures for achieving equality and protection from discrimination, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality addresses the television stations with national frequency, printed media, and internet portals (hereinafter: media) registered in the Media Register maintained by the Serbian Business Registers Agency the following:
RECOMMENDATION OF MEASURES FOR ACHIEVING EQUALITY AND PROTECTION FROM DISCRIMINATION
The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality recommends to the media:
- To undertake all necessary measures to prevent the publication, as well as to remove already published content and comments that encourage discrimination, hatred, or violence against individuals or groups of individuals based on their personal characteristics, or that constitute harassing, degrading behavior and sexual or gender-based harassment aimed at violating the dignity of an individual or group of individuals based on their personal characteristics, especially if such behavior creates an intimidating, frightening, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment.
No appeal or any other legal remedy is permitted against this recommendation of measures for achieving equality, as it does not decide on the rights and obligations of legal entities.
