Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Janković met with Canadian Ambassador Giles Norman to discuss the importance of respecting human rights and protection mechanisms against discrimination, continuation of cooperation in active promotion of gender equality through women’s entrepreneurship, as well as numerous other activities.
Janković presented to the Ambassador the most important activities that the institution undertakes in the field of protection and promotion of equality, as a fundamental value of every democratic society, as well as the challenges it faced during the suppression of the pandemic. She also emphasized the excellent cooperation and support that the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality has had so far from Canadian partners, primarily in empowering women and girls in smaller places, because they are often exposed to misunderstandings of their environment, which renounces gender roles very slowly.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance and role of the institution of the Commissioner, stating that the long-term cooperation so far has been excellent. He also expressed the expectation that the implementation of joint activities aimed at promoting equality, rule of law, tolerance, as well as the creation of an inclusive society for all citizens will remain a priority in the future.
