Awareness about tolerance is developed from the early childhood and that is why children and the young are key stakeholders for the improvement of equality in the whole society, said Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic at the meeting with new UNICEF Director in Serbia Regina de Dominicis.
Commissioner and UNICEF Director stressed the importance of Youth Panel “Discrimination Busters” whose activities are being realized together with UNICEF, including rising number of children and young people who are the main promoters of equality, tolerance and human rights in schools throughout Serbia.
Emphasizing the importance the work of the institution of Commissioner, De Dominicis assessed that the long-standing cooperation so far has been very successful and that the implementation of joint activities to improve the position of children in Serbia will be extended.
Commissioner stressed that reports of international and national institutions, as well as the practice of Commissioner, reveal that key problems remain when it comes to education of children and youth from certain vulnerable groups, which is why education and preventive measures are of great importance.
