Opportunities for business women to meet and network are always helpful in many ways because through the mutual exchange of experiences, business information, and practical advice, new ideas and constructive support for further development and advancement are obtained, said Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, at the opening of an informal gathering of business women. More than 20 women, business owners, and managers attended the meeting. It was organized on the premises of the Commissioner’s institution at the initiative of the Association of Business Women of Serbia.

Regular meetings with women entrepreneurs and leaders allow us to more clearly recognize their needs, which is important for defining further activities aimed at improving the economic position of women, Janković stated.

At the meeting, it was concluded that even though women are increasingly successful in the business world, social, cultural, traditional, and other prejudices about gender roles are still present, as well as the discriminatory opinion that women are not capable enough to become successful entrepreneurs, which is why continuous institutional support is important.
