The traditional action “Equally to the goal” was held at the 36th Belgrade Marathon, organized by the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and the Sports Association of People with Disabilities in Belgrade, with the support of the Belgrade Marathon.
Enabling equal participation in various activities, including sports, is the basis for a life according to human standards, and with this action, we are not only pointing out the position of our fellow citizens with disabilities but also how much sport improves the quality of their lives, stated the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković. She emphasized that the action “Equally to the goal” will be organized “until we manage to overcome all the obstacles in our heads to see a human being first, not a disability”.
The event was attended by employees of the Commissioner, as well as more than a hundred people with disabilities of all ages and members of the Sports Association of People with Disabilities in Belgrade. Many citizens also gathered at the Commissioner’s stand and had the opportunity to learn more about the problems that people with disabilities encounter when using public areas, facilities, and public city transport, which are primarily caused by discrimination.
The action “Equally to the goal” has been held for 12 years as part of the Belgrade Marathon, with the participation of all visitors in the Race of Pleasure.
