Commissioner in the working visit to Netherlands

Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic paid a working visit to Netherlands, where she visited several institutions and organizations that act in the fields of protecting the human rights, equality and suppression of discrimination. At the meetings with the Vice President of Human Rights Authority Jan-Peter Loof and Human Rights Ambassador Marriet Schuurman, they discussed the status of human rights in Netherlands and Serbia, mechanism for their protection, challenges that these institutions are facing in their work and possibilities for the prospect cooperation. We had the opportunity to learn about some good models, such are the special reports which are submitted to various Parliamentary Committees, in order to achieve great interest for the issues related to the protection of equality, said Jankovic.

Commissioner also visited the House of Anne Frank, a unique museum where visitors can learn about historical facts through educational contents created for different generations. In discussion with the Head of Educational Projects Department Jan Erik Dubbelman, it was concluded that although there are much more possibilities and better working conditions in Netherlands, both countries are facing the same challenges.

Beside Commissioner Jankovic, other participants in this visit were journalists who won the first place at the contest for Annual Media Award of Commissioner for Protection of Equality, which awards the best media reports about combatting discrimination and promotion of equality and tolerance, and representatives of OSCE Mission in Serbia and Embassy of Netherlands.
