Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic gave lecture to students of Human Rights School and presented the role and competences of the institution of Commissioner for Protection of Equality. She spoke about legal framework for prohibition of discrimination, its most frequent types and cases, proceeding before Commissioner, ways of submitting complaints and court protection against discrimination.
Attendees and Commissioner discussed the practical implementation of institution’s competencies, which social groups are most exposed to discrimination and in which areas the violation of right to equality mostly occurs. Jankovic also presented other important activities of the institution, aimed to improve equality, such are trainings and recommendations for public authority bodies, courts and police, with goal to efficiently implement regulations and decrease discrimination in all areas, conducting of different researches and strengthening of cooperation with representatives of employers and media.
