Young people should be given more chances and a permanent message that there is room for them and that they can influence the most important decisions that affect them, said the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Janković at the Youth Dialogue with the Commissioner organized by the Umbrella Organization of Youth of Serbia (KOMS).
She stated that discrimination based on age is at the top, but that young people turn to institutions the least, while the experiences of various organizations dealing with the situation of young people show that they often encounter discrimination, especially in the labor market. That is why it is important to hear directly from them on ways to improve cooperation, Janković emphasized.
During the conversation, young people were interested in issues of equal access to education and health services, and the position of young members of vulnerable social groups was also discussed.
At the beginning of the year, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with KOMS, an association of 109 youth associations in Serbia. Today’s event was organized as part of a series of youth meetings with relevant institutions with the aim of improving their position.
