The “Remembering Hilda Dajč” awards, organized by the Association “Remembering Hilda Dajč”, were awarded in the University Library “Svetozar Marković” in Belgrade, for the second time. The youth award “Remembering Hilda Dajč”, for demonstrated civic responsibility and social awareness went to Omladinski Radio for the podcast and radio show for youth, “What kind of country do I want to live in”, while the award in the category of outstanding contribution to the culture of remembrance went to Haver Serbia for setting up the first “Stumbling blocks – Stolpersteins” in Belgrade.
In addition, the special award “Voice of the Youth” was awarded to MentalHub for free psychological counseling and psychotherapy for young people, based on the votes of the 13th Belgrade High School students.
The “Remembering Hilda Dajč” trophy is shaped in the form of a bundle of four letters and represents the four letters Hilda Dajč sent from the Staro sajmište concentration camp. At the same time, the letters represent the words of all the others who were killed, along with Hilda Dajč, and the millions of other victims of the Holocaust, addressed to us today. Words that remain with us as a pledge that the victims must never be forgotten and that it is our responsibility to ensure that the Holocaust never happens again.
