Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic participates at the annual conference of European equality institutions in Strasbourg, organized by European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI).

This conference offers an opportunity to improve framework for protection of human rights through the exchange of practices and attitudes, with participation of eminent experts from whole Europe, and it was opened by Director of Council of Europe Directorate General for Democracy Snezana Samardzic-Markovic.

This year’s ECRI conference is dedicated to the implementation of ECRI General Policy Recommendation No.2 on Equality Bodies, adopted in December 2017, especially of those related to the independence and effectiveness of these institutions. The conference is also important because of exchange of experiences between equality institutions in area of combating hate speech, from the perspectives of different countries.

Beside Commissioner Jankovic, the conference was also attended by President of Board for Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Meho Omerovic and Deputy Ombudsman.
