Recommendation of measures to elementary school “Sutjeska” in Zemun, the Ministry of Education and the Belgrade City Administration to undertake measures to solve the problem of segregation

Acting within the framework of legally prescribed competencies [1] to monitor the implementation of laws concerning the prohibition of discrimination and to recommend measures to achieve equality to the public authorities and other persons, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality addresses to the elementary school “Sutjeska” in Zemun, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the Belgrade City Administration the following

RECOMMENDATION ON MEASURES TO ACHIEVE EQUALITY

 

  1. The elementary school “Sutjeska” in Zemun, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the Belgrade City Administration need to undertake all activities and measures within their competence in order to solve the problem of segregation, namely of the overwhelmingly large number of Roma children in comparison to other children in the elementary school “Sutjeska” in Zemun.

 

  1. The elementary school “Sutjeska” in Zemun, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and City Administration of the City of Belgrade will inform the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality of the measures undertaken in order to implement this Recommendation, within 30 days from the date of receipt of the Recommendation on the measures to achieve equality.

No appeal or any other legal remedy is allowed against this Recommendation on measures to achieve equality, since the Recommendation does not decide on the rights and obligations of legal entities.
