Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, attended a workshop dedicated to the use of digital tools for communication, online sales, and access to finances, intended for women from the Niš region as well as members of the Women’s Association “Etno magic.” Janković spoke with the participants about the importance of knowledge, access to technology, and digital visibility for their economic empowerment and equal participation in the labor market.
Through the workshops, the participants had the opportunity to learn how to present their products in the digital space, reach a larger number of customers, and connect with the market in a new and more efficient way. It was particularly emphasized that the economic empowerment of women in rural areas is directly linked to access to information, modern technologies, and greater social visibility of their work.
This activity is being implemented within the project “Empowering Women in Rural Areas of Serbia to Acquire New Knowledge and Skills,” which the institution of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality is carrying out with the support of the Embassy of Austria in Belgrade. A new workshop is planned next week in another part of Serbia, focused on acquiring skills that contribute to improving quality of life and preventing discrimination and social exclusion of women in rural areas.
