The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, strongly condemns the attack against TV Pink journalists Gordana Uzelac and Mara Dragović during protests outside the building of that television station.

It is unacceptable that journalists are exposed to violence, especially when it comes to women in this profession who often face various forms of discrimination, she said, adding that all journalists should be able to work safely and professionally.

The Commissioner welcomed effective and prompt reaction of the police and reiterated that the competent authorities should resolve immediately all instances of assaults against journalists, not only when it comes to physical violence, but also threats, intimidation, unlawful entries, etc.
