The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, condemns the racist and xenophobic comments on social networks targeting a student from Congo, who became known to the general public after she sang the song “Kosovo Peonies”.
Messages of intolerance and hatred are inadmissible and prohibited by law, and must not be part of public speech, including the online space. At the same time, every isolated and individual case of racism must be met with public condemnation and adequate sanctions, the Commissioner concluded.
