The Commissioner, together with the employees of the Institution, visited the newly established Legacy of Archaeologists and Ambassador of SFRY Ante Ilić

The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Janković, together with the employees of the Institution, visited the newly established Legacy of Archaeologists and Ambassador of SFRY Ante Ilić, who together with his wife Dragana Tucaković collected valuable objects and works of art for years. A special asset of the Legacy, which is located in the Adligat Book Museum, is the collection of objects of South American art whose precious artifacts are between 2800 and 600 years old.

Janković especially emphasized the contribution of Dragana Tucaković Ilić, who participated on an equal footing with her husband in collecting works of art and creating this collection. “We tend to forget the importance and creativity of women who are still often in the shadow of successful men in our society, which is why this event is additionally important, as in this way we show that we are aware of the role and contribution of women to culture, art, and creativity”, the Commissioner emphasized.

During his decades-long diplomatic service in Haiti, Venezuela, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, Ilić created a collection of 117 items of pre-Colombian and 32 works of Haitian art, as well as numerous documents related to the Non-Aligned Movement.

The Adligat Association, whose director is Viktor Lazić, also comprises museums of Serbian literature, books, and travel and the House of Legacies of famous representatives of the intellectual and cultural elite of Serbia in the 19th and 20th centuries.
