Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, strongly condemns the behavior of a member of the police in Priboj who celebrated the birth of a child with his colleagues with songs glorifying the crimes and tragedies in Vukovar and Srebrenica.
“I expect adequate sanctions for unacceptable behavior and hate speech that has become available to the public through social networks, because it is important to show that such outbursts that cause fear and a hostile environment are not tolerated, regardless of who is involved. When it comes to the incident in which members of the MoI participated in a private party, it is good that a public apology was issued immediately, and the incident was condemned by the highest representatives of the state”, Commissioner Janković said.
Serbia is the state of all its citizens, regardless of national or religious affiliation, Janković points out, and adds that the last individual incidents should be condemned by everyone rather than being a reason for deepening tensions because it is not a picture of our society nor does it reflect the relationships in it.
