Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic strongly condemns the statement of Director of Tourist Organization Novi Becej Sasa Dujin, that “the best way to learn Hungarian language is to sleep with Hungarian woman”. Such statement, which was aired live on TV, is humiliating and derogating for women and in addition, qualifies the women of Hungarian nationality in a manner which puts them down to the sexual objects.

Commissioner warns that carriers of the public functions must be aware that they have a high level of responsibility and that all their statements and acts have to respect the dignity and rights of all citizens. Discrimination is not a joke, warns Brankica Jankovic and emphasizes attempts of justification may not be an alibi for such statement.
