Improving Equality in the Field of Work and Employment
Since July 2024, the Commissioner for Protection of Equality has been implementing the project “Improving Equality in the Field of Work and Employment – A Joint Initiative for Workplace Equality.” This project is part of the “Initiative for Global Solidarity” of the German Development Cooperation, implemented by GIZ, aimed at raising awareness and strengthening employers’ capacity to adopt an Equality Code, prevent discriminatory practices, and promote responsible business conduct.
The project’s activities focus on expanding the network of companies that implement inclusive work policies in their operations and strengthening their capacities through the Partnership for Equality with the Commissioner.
Updated guidelines for drafting the employers’ anti-discrimination policy code in Serbia, known as the Equality Code, will be presented at regional meetings – workshops with employers and company representatives. These guidelines serve as an effective internal mechanism for identifying and preventing potential cases of discrimination in the workplace. These events will offer an opportunity for participants to further enhance their knowledge on preventing and protecting against discrimination in work and employment, familiarize themselves with new regulations that impose obligations on employers, and learn about examples of good practices. Practical advice and guidance will also help them prepare for the development and adoption of various models of internal Equality Codes within their companies.
The project is planned to run until May 2025.
