Milan Antonijević Visits the Municipality of Bujanovac

The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Milan Antonijević, held a series of substantive meetings during his visit to the municipality of Bujanovac, his first official visit since assuming the position of Commissioner for the Protection of Equality.

Enkelj Redžepi, President of the National Council of the Albanian National Minority, briefed Antonijević on the issues facing the Albanian national minority. The meeting emphasized the importance of dialogue and complaints as mechanisms of the Commissioner’s institution, highlighting them as one way to find long-term solutions for certain issues.

Specific activities were discussed during the meeting with Nenad Mitrović, Director of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac, and Medveđa. Opportunities for cooperation were also discussed with Arber Pajazitij, President of the Municipality of Bujanovac.

The Commissioner also spoke with representatives of the Roma community – Kenan Rašitović, Ermihan Zećiri, and Ibro Idić, as well as with Antonios Balaskas, representative of the OSCE Mission in Bujanovac. It was announced that one of the new regional offices of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality could be opened in Bujanovac, similar to the existing office in Novi Pazar.
