Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic met with Head of EU Delegation in Serbia Sem Fabrizi.
During the meeting, they discussed the progress in the improvement of the position of minority and marginalized groups and tolerance in all areas of life, as well as the contribution of Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and importance of this institution for the society and in the euro-integration process of our country.
One of the topics was the overview of condition of gender equality at the local level, which was presented by Commissioner for the Protection of Equality at the conference held on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, noting that it is not enough just to adopt laws, but it is necessary to apply and continuously carry out various activities, which the institution will implement in the following period.
Commissioner and Head of EU Delegation also agreed that it is necessary to have continuous work for the acceptance of differences.
Ambassador Fabrizi stressed that EU Delegation will continue cooperation with Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and expressed support to the institution’s efforts in building of tolerant society that implies mutual understanding, tolerance and respect for the human rights of every individual.
