The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Serbia, H.E. Martijn Elgersma. They discussed key principles of the rule of law, equality, and the prevention of discrimination.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that in today’s challenges, human rights are often among the first values to be questioned, and that the role of independent institutions in their protection is of crucial importance.

Special attention was given to the role of the media in a democratic society, freedom of expression, and the safety of journalists. They agreed that it is necessary to ensure conditions for the free and safe work of the media, without pressure or threats, and that strengthening institutions that protect human rights and promote equality is the foundation of a stable and just society.
