International Day of Intergenerational Solidarity Marked in Šabac with a Walk and Workshops

Intergenerational cooperation means much more than the exchange of experience. It builds relationships of mutual understanding and trust, strengthens the community and improves lives.

On the occasion of the International Day of Intergenerational Solidarity, a new cycle of the AGE+ project was launched in Šabac, connecting generations through various joint activities and learning, thereby strengthening intergenerational ties, supporting active ageing and contributing to greater visibility of the needs of older people.

The event began with an intergenerational walk and continued with a workshop at the Šabac Training Centre, where examples of good practice in intergenerational solidarity and cooperation were presented, along with research on the needs of older people and education programs for implementing intergenerational activities.

A society that connects generations moves forward with confidence, said Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Milan Antonijević in his opening address, adding that by respecting older people, we create space for their social inclusion and active contribution to society, thereby also building a safer future for all generations.

In addition to the Commissioner, welcoming remarks were also delivered by the Mayor of Šabac, Aleksandar Pajić, the President of the Šabac City Assembly, Nemanja Pajić, and the Director of Tara International Consulting, the organization implementing the AGE+ project, Hugo van Veghel.
