The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, attended the celebration of the European Day of Remembrance for Roma and Sinti victims of the World War II, organized by the Romag Association.
It is important that, as a society, we remember the persecution and killing of all innocent people, regardless of their nationality. Future generations should be continuously taught about the values of anti-fascism, tolerance and peace, and a culture of remembrance of the victims and sufferings of people of various nations should be developed among young people.
This is one of the ways in which we jointly build a society of humanity, equality and tolerance in which everyone is committed to respecting their own and other people’s human rights, Commissioner pointed out.
