Brankica Janković, Commissioner for the Protection of Equality met with Oana-Cristina Popa, Romanian Ambassador to Serbia. Meeting was also attended by Draga Vukčević from institution of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and Mihaela Osorio, Deputy Ambassador.
Main topics of discussion at the meeting were visit to Romanian equality bodies and possibilities that members of Romanian national minority have if they consider themselves discriminated on basis of nationality or religion. Commissioner presented the work of institution in detail, as well as the possibilities that are available to all citizens of Serbia, including the members of the Romanian national minority, to submit a compalint if they think that they have been discriminated against on any grounds.
Commissioner stressed that the institution has always enjoyed good cooperation with representatives of National council of Romanian national minority, without any disputable topics and also that several workshops with all National councils of national minorities were held during 2014 and 2015. During these workshops, Commissioner presented the institution, the scope of work, process of claims submission and work of institution in general. Participants had the opportunity to find out more about the possibilities to submit a complaint if they think that some of their rights have been violated or that they have been exposed to discrimination on any grounds.
