Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic met with General Director of Ikea Company for South Eastern Europe Stefan Vanoverbeke, who signed the “Partnership for Equality” of Commissioner for Protection of Equality, aimed to support further efforts to improve the equality in area of labor and employment.

Commissioner stressed that employers have to be aware that business and human rights are not on the opposite, but on the same side and that Ikea Company is one of the best examples to prove that it is possible to do business and respect the human rights of employees in the same time.

Vanoverbeke said that women make a half of his team and that differences enable more efficient work and better results.

Among key discussion topic of the meeting were also all types of cooperation between Commissioner as the central state institution for the protection and improvement of equality and Ikea Company, as social responsible corporation which dedicates special attention to the position of its employees.
