“Equal treatment of all citizens by the police in the performance of law-related tasks of police officers is of great importance for the functioning of the state and rule of law” stressed Commissioner Jankovic at the opening of new education cycle for police officers on recognizing and combating discrimination.
At the same time, she reminded of Commissioner’s research on the attitude of citizens towards discrimination, whose results show that the police, along with the institution of the Commissioner, enjoy the greatest confidence in the protection against discrimination, which speaks about the significance of such trainings and the importance of cooperation between the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Commissioner Jankovic stressed that seminars are an opportunity for police members to improve their knowledge and skills for recognizing and proper reacting in cases of discrimination of citizens, especially because they often have direct contact with citizens in various occasions.
Today’s training is the first in a new education phase and following seminars will be held in Zrenjanin, Kragujevac and Novi Sad.
