Intersex persons are practically invisible in Serbia, and practice and existing legal solutions do not solve the most important problems of intersex persons and their families, concluded Brankica Jankovic with Kristijan Randjelovic from the organization XY Spektrum, which deals with the protection and promotion of rights of intersex persons. Jankovic and Randjelovic met in order to discuss the ways in which these problems can be solved, because according to unofficial data that XY Spektrum has one of 200 children in Serbia is born with some of the intersex variations, while the United Nations estimates that 1.7% of the world population belongs to this group.
Randjelovic particularly emphasized the issue of medical treatment that is applied immediately after the birth of intersex of children, as well as the lack of adequate psychological support to their parents.
