Commissioner Brankica Janković at the World Economic Forum in Davos

The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, where she participated in numerous events, with a particular focus on the position of women in contemporary industries, the ethical use of artificial intelligence, and the achievement of sustainable development goals.

One of the key events was the panel “AI and Collective Intelligence for Inclusive Action and Impact”, dedicated to exploring the potential of collective intelligence through the combination of shared knowledge, collaboration, and innovation as tools for turning sustainable goals into concrete and transformative actions. The panel featured Dr. Anino Emuwa (100 Davos Women), Marie-Claire Daveu, Mads Twomey-Madsen, and Kirsi Madi. The Commissioner emphasized that in an era many call the “age of intelligence,” we must be aware of both the advantages and risks that the development and application of artificial intelligence bring, stressing the importance of using it in the service of society, while respecting human rights and protecting the environment.

At this and similar events, it was highlighted that inclusive leadership, gender equality, mental health protection, and the application of ESG standards play crucial roles in contemporary processes of change. It was also confirmed that greater representation of women in politics directly influences the advancement of women’s economic rights. This is supported by the latest findings of a joint report by Oliver Wyman Forum, Women Political Leaders, and The World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law, which show that improving women’s rights and their participation in the labor market could double the global growth rate and increase global GDP by 20%.

During her stay in Davos, Commissioner Janković had the opportunity to meet with prominent women leaders from the fields of business and politics, including Dr. Anino Emuwa, Marie-Claire Daveu, Kirsi Madi, Karen Saltser, CEO of Bloomberg Media, and Sanna Marin, former Prime Minister of Finland.
