Although progress has been made in improving the position of the LGBTIQ population, they are still faced with great social distance and misunderstanding, especially in smaller communities, said Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, before the start of the Pride Walk, which concluded this year’s Pride Week.
“There is progress, especially when it comes to the legal framework related to the position of transgender people, as well as freedom of assembly. However, it is necessary to continuously take measures to improve the position of the LGBTIQ community. Modern society must not tolerate any kind of discrimination and we must all work together to further improve the conditions and legal regulations, so that all our citizens are truly equal”, said the Commissioner.
This year, as in previous years, in addition to Commissioner Janković, employees of the office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality also took part in the Pride Walk.
