The voice of youth should be louder and we have to support and encourage them to participate more in decision making at all levels, said Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic at the conference on youth rights “Youth Rights Talks” which was held by United Nations Country Team in Serbia, Belgrade Center for Human Rights and OSCE Mission in Serbia.
Discussing with conference participants and audience, mostly consisted by girls and boys, Commissioner emphasized that we have to listen young people carefully and understand their needs in order to create optimal conditions for their active participation in political, economic and cultural life. Today, when global market is opened and information and knowledge are available online, we have to be aware of our responsibility for young generations and do everything in our power to make them stay in Serbia and contribute to development of modern democratic society, said Commissioner.
Goal of Youth Rights Talks is promotion of youth role in peace keeping and building of fairer and inclusive society through mutual exchange of experiences, thoughts and attitudes, as well as discussion with representatives of institutions, media, civil society, youth organizations and other important actors.
Other speakers at “hot chairs” were also Milan Markovic, Head of UN Country Team in Serbia and Helena Vukovic, LGBT activist.
