Networking and mutual support are key for the professional development of women, and connecting women in decision-making places strengthens their influence, and brings new perspectives and opportunities for cooperation. This was pointed out at the event “Networking of women leaders of Serbia and Israel” jointly organized by the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and the Embassy of Israel in Belgrade on the occasion of marking the International Women’s Solidarity Month.
This gathering is an excellent opportunity to remind us of the importance of support, cooperation, and unity among women worldwide. The power of networking, especially today, must not be underestimated, as we continue to build bridges of solidarity that will help overcome obstacles that continue to limit the full participation of women in key decision-making processes in all social areas, said Commissioner Janković.
Israel’s Ambassador to Serbia, Avivit Bar-Ilan, also spoke at the opening of the meeting, saying that she was proud of this meeting, which marks another milestone in the cooperation between Israel and Serbia, rooted in the deep friendship of our two countries and the shared vision of a better future. The issue of strengthening the role of women in the social and economic sector is of mutual interest, and I am convinced that this gathering of ours will create new, significant connections and friendships, as well as initiatives that will further strengthen Serbian-Israeli ties, said the Ambassador.
Women leaders, visionaries, and experts from various fields such as business, medicine, science, and civil society from Israel and Serbia had the opportunity to get to know each other through a series of short sessions, as well as exchange experiences and consider opportunities for cooperation in common interest. Aleksandra Drecun, president of the Intersection Center for Science and Innovation, and Osnat Levtzion-Korach, general director of the Shamir Medical Center, gave opening speeches. “When women are involved in decision-making, the world becomes a better place for everyone”, it was pointed out at the gathering, with the message that it is necessary to ensure that women have equal chances to shape society.
