Equality is not a privilege, but a right, which is why we “listen” to citizens in all parts of Serbia in order to learn more about the problems they face and work on overcoming them, said Commissioner Milan Antonijević, who, on the occasion of the International Day of Intergenerational Solidarity, visited Šabac with his associates, where he met with the Mayor of Šabac, Aleksandar Pajić, and City Council members Mina Miailović and Stevan Matić.

The topics of discussion included the state of equality, activities aimed at improving the position of citizens at greater risk of discrimination, such as persons with disabilities, older people and Roma, as well as innovative community-based services that contribute to a better quality of life. In addition, they discussed the measures implemented by the City of Šabac to achieve gender equality, as well as opportunities for additional support for women from rural areas.

We strive to maintain good cooperation with local self-governments, both through concrete activities and through the Municipality/City of Equal Opportunities program, the Commissioner said.
