As part of the project “Empowerment of Women in Rural Areas of Serbia,” the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, visited Sjenica, where she handed over office equipment to representatives of the Women’s Association “Sjeničanke.”
The equipment was provided within the mentioned project with the aim of strengthening the association’s capacity to empower women from rural areas through educational and advocacy activities, as well as encouraging their visibility and participation in social processes.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of supporting women in rural areas, noting that such activities contribute to the creation of a more equal society, where women play a stronger role in their communities.
The project “Empowerment of Women in Rural Areas of Serbia” has been implemented for the fourth consecutive year, in cooperation with UN Women in Serbia and with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Belgrade. Its goal is to provide women and girls with the tools to recognize and respond to discrimination and violence, as well as to encourage them to become drivers of positive change in their local communities.
