The Commissioner opened a seminar on discrimination for national councils in Pančevo

National councils are important partners of our institution, and since it is our obligation and responsibility to serve citizens and earn their trust, it is extremely important to continue good cooperation in many fields, above all in the prevention of discrimination, said the Commissioner for the protection of equality, Brankica Janković, at the opening of the two-day seminar held in Pančevo.

The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Serbia, is implementing the second cycle of training for representatives of national councils of national minorities. Seminar participants, through lectures and workshops, have the opportunity to become familiar with the concept and forms of discrimination, the role, competencies, and practice of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, the possibilities that the National Councils have in this regard criminal-legal protection, and affirmative measures to achieve equality.

During her visit to Pančevo, the Commissioner held meetings with representatives of the National Council of the Russian National Minority and the National Council of the Macedonian National Minority in Serbia as part of her planned visits to the councils of national minorities.
