Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic met with president of Association of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Individuals (SGNS) Suzana Maslac Matovic.

Main topic of this meeting was the cooperation of the institution of Commissioner and SGNS association, aimed to improvement of the position of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals who are exposed to discrimination in social, family and professional life. Maslac Matovic has introduced the Commissioner to problems which these citizens of ours have in the process of education and in health care area, but also to those specific ones, like the situation in which persons with damaged hearing are endangered because of impossibility to make a phone call to emergency services like Ambulance or fire fighters.

Commissioner supported the activities of SGNS association aimed to improvement of the position of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals and emphasized the need for intensified inclusion of the members of this sensitive social groups in all areas of social life.
