Recommendation of measures to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia for the achievement of gender equality

Acting within the framework of legally prescribed competencies to monitor the implementation of laws concerning the prohibition of discrimination and to recommend measures to achieve equality to the public authorities and other persons (Art. 33, para. 1, items 7 and 9 of the Law on the Prohibition of Discrimination, “Official Gazette of RS “, No. 22/2009), the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality addresses to National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia the following

 

RECOMMENDATION ON MEASURES TO ACHIEVE EQUALITY

 

  1. The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will take all necessary measures in accordance with its competences in order to ensure that at least 30% of persons of less represented gender are members of all delegations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in international parliamentary institutions, in accordance with the regulation referred to in Art. 38 para 2 of the Law on Gender Equality.
  2. The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will take all necessary measures to ensure that persons of less represented gender are represented in the composition of all parliamentary committees in accordance with the constitutional guarantee of the equality of men and women and the duty of state bodies to develop a policy of equal opportunities.
  3. The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will regulate the manner in which it will be ensured that at least 30% of persons of less represented gender become members of all parliamentary committees of parliamentary delegations participating in international cooperation, in accordance with the regulation from Art. 38 para 2 of the Law on Gender Equality.
  4. The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will regulate the manner in which it will be ensured that the composition of parliamentary committees will have an even number of persons of less represented gender.
  5. The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will inform the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality of the measures taken, not later than 30 days from the date of receipt of this recommendation.
