Commissioner Jankovic at Kopaonik Business Forum

Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic took part in the panel „The Role of Women in the Change of Business Environment“ within 25th Kopaonik Business Forum. For the first time, the topic was the influence of women to changes of business environment, while Commissioner spoke about the significance of economic empowerment of women for the development of whole society.

According to the words of Commissioner Jankovic, although women make more than half of population in Serbia, they are still not enough present at managerial positions in companies and enterprises. Stating that, according to the official statistical data, men in Serbia have 10.4% higher salary than women for the same job, Commissioner highlighted that the greatest pay gap is noticeable among employees aged between 40 and 49 who are highly educated.

Commissioner estimated that women have to jump over barriers and not to wait but to seek the opportunity. “Active role of fathers in rising of children is necessary, as well as the mapping of terrain for the women’s entrepreneurship, and that is impossible to achieve unless the men are involved”, stated Commissioner Jankovic.

Other speakers at the panel were also EBRD Associate Director Aleksandra Vukosavljevic, Mastercard Country Manager Serbia, Montenegro and B&H Jelena Ristic, Program Leader EMEIA, Women Fast Forward and Entrepreneurial Winning Women Natasa Nikolic and Junior Achievement SerbiaPresident Svetlana Kisic.
