Last year’s winners of the Third National Moot Court Competition in the area of protection against discrimination visited the central office of Equinet, the European Network of Equality Bodies and UNIA, Interfederal Centre for Equal Opportunities both located in Brussels.
The Niš University Law School students Miljana Tomić, Milica Stanković and Ivan Popović as well as Anđelija Tasić, mentor to the team, had an opportunity to see how Equinet operates, get acquainted with their projects and the strategy for the upcoming period. The meeting was jointly chaired by Tamas Kadar and Katrine Steinfeld.
At the meeting with Ingrid Andenbum, Senior Legal Advisor of the Interfederal Centre for Equal Opportunities, the winners of the National Moot Court Competition learned about Belgian human rights legislation and legal system infrastructure. In the second part of the meeting, students were interested in finding out about real life cases, practical examples and challenges the institution faces on daily basis.
Moot Court Competition was organized by the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality in cooperation with Serbia Judicial Academy and Open Society Foundation. The award for the winners of this competition was the trip to Brussels which included visits to institutions tasked with the protection of equality.
As many as 27 teams consisting of undergraduate and graduate students of all accredited Law Schools in the Republic of Serbia applied for the competition. “Stribori” is the name of the winning team and its members are Niš Law School students.
